Crypto and stocks give you candles: open, high, low, close, volume. A fund gives you one number a day — its net asset value (NAV). That single fact reshapes what analysis can and can't do.
What you can read from a NAV series
- Trend and momentum — direction and pace of the NAV line.
- Periodic returns — daily, 1-week, 1-month, 3-month.
- Fund size — how much capital the fund manages.
What you can't
No intraday candles means no volume profile, no ATR from highs/lows, no order-flow. Anyone showing you "candlestick patterns" on a fund is inventing them.
A sensible fund read
Focus on the medium-term trend of the NAV, compare periodic returns against the fund's category, and weigh fund size for liquidity. On AlphaWatching, fund pages surface exactly this — current NAV, returns and size — and stay honest about the rest.
